Male Skincare Secrets

1. Avoid strong deodorant soaps on your face and body. Instead knob to gentler liquid or bar soaps with moisturizer and avoid strong cleaning agents that aggravate skin causing dryness and cracking. Stop the use of drying alcohol-based aftershave products.

2. Apply a skin moisturizer after showering as wet skin absorbs better than dry skin.
3. For cracked hands, use a barrier cream such as Neutrogena Norwegian Formula or Prevex HC – they form a wall between skin and the essentials, preventing moisture defeat.
4. Look for skincare goods that contain antioxidants (vitamin E, green tea), anti-aging ingredients (vitamin A) and an SPF of at least 15.
5. Avoid products that include formaldehyde or formaldehyde releasers which can cause an allergic reaction.
6. If your scalp tends to be dry and flaky, look for shampoo that contains the antifungal ketoconazole. If the scaling is pretty significant a tar shampoo is a good idea. If your skin tends to break out at the hairline, avoid styling products containing oil which can exacerbate the problem. Look for glycerin-based products instead.
7. Don’t consider about changing your skin regimen for the season, imagine about giving your skin what it needs for that day. Sensitivity and dryness can change daily depending on humidity levels, time of the year, sun exposure, and even when you last shaved.
8. During cold weather, with indoor heating and less moisture, skin becomes drier and more sensitive. Applying a daily moisturizer may be necessary.
9. Diet plays a major role in your skin and health since both reflect your inner systematic wellbeing. In general, foods that are packed with vitamins and minerals (fruits and vegetables) contain the building blocks necessary for cell growth and turnover. In addition, dark green leafy vegetables contain the antioxidants necessary for combating the free radicals that contribute to aging.
10. Not using a daily sunblock is most men’s biggest skincare error. Even in the winter you get lots of UV contact so a first-rate sunblock that doubles as a moisturizer is needed everyday. Use one with a gel base for hairy areas as gel tends to be less messy.

THE BEST ANTI-AGING REGIME FOR MEN

1. CLEANSE
The most efficient anti-aging ingredient can’t break through the skin to do their work if there is a thick layer of oil and pollution on the surface. Get into the habit of using a gentle cleanser morning and night to take out the impurities from your face. Gel formulas work best for oily skin and creams for dryer conditions. Use luke-warm water and be sure to thoroughly rinse when finished.

2. SHAVE
The way of beard growth can be messy, so always tell men to lubricate the beard very, very well before shaving. Dr. Orentreich says, “The hair is a protein that has the capability to suck up a lot of water. Just think of it as spaghetti – when it is dry, it is not easy to cut. When it is boiled, it is very simple to cut. The same is true with our beard.’’ Use a good quality shave gel or cream to decrease friction on the face of the skin when shaving. Invest in a good quality razor. And always shave in the same way as the beard. Keep in your mind, use a light hand. Don’t press down with strength. If you suffer from ingrown hairs and irritation, replace your blades every five days.

3. MOISTURIZE
After cleansing and shaving, skin needs a good moisturizer to lock in water. This will make your skin feel more comfortable and will plump up skin to hide fine lines and wrinkles. It will be also sooth any irritation from shaving. Think of it as a protective barrier for your skin as you head out to face the day.

4. TREAT
“My male patients are very results-oriented,” says Dr. Lisa Kellett. “So I usually set a Retinol or vitamin A product to address wrinkles in patients after the age of 30. It’s still the gold standard in anti-aging ingredients.” This is the step where you can address any specific skincare concerns such as acne, crow’s feet, or wrinkles.

5. SUN PROTECTION
We’ve saved the most imperative step for last. Apply an alcohol-based sunscreen every day – summer and winter. Over 80% of the signs of aging are caused by sun damage. Prevent any more damage and give those anti-aging ingredients a chance to work with daily defense.

HOW we can PREVENT, slow down and improve our skin to AGE GRACEFULLY.

1.    Topicals

Vitamin A and Vitamin C as we have come to distinguish is an integral part of skin care maintenance and there is clinically no better way to distribute them to your skin then by using topicals that can be mixed into your fresh skin care

2.    Botox

We’ve all heard about it, we all know someone who is doing it, but what is it and why does it work? Botox is an inhibitor that works to relax specific muscles that when contracted form lines. Botox is not a filler, and although people often use terms like Botoxed, or too much Botox, if injected properly there is almost no physical indication of the treatment.

3.    Injectable Fillers

Most frequently used for Injectable Fillers, which you guessed it, fill in hollows and wrinkles while providing a slight lift, is something called Hyaluronic Acid that is a unsurprisingly occurring substance that absorbs moisture in the skin and eventually is broken down and steadily the effects wear off.

4.    Skin Tightening

Did you ever imagine that radiofrequency would be an appropriate component to anti-aging? There is an amazing device called Therm-age that used radiofrequency to stimulate collagen production and can tighten skin on the face, around the eyes, neck and even on the body.

5.    IPL for overall improvement in texture, tone and colour, including Brown Spots and Age Spots

This is the most frequently performed treatment because its results and benefits are so multi-faceted. So how does it work? The Light actually raises and removes pigment from the skin and concurrently stimulates collagen remodelling.

6. Blu Light for Precancerous Lesions and Adult Acne

Just like sitting under a hair dryer in the days of old, this healing consists of sitting in front of a Blu Light after an application of a photodynamic prescription drug which for precancerous cells works by destroying damaged cells in the skin and for acne reduces oil production and eliminates acne bacteria in the skin preventing future acne as well.

7. Don’t call it beauty sleep for nothing!

Sleep is vital for cell repair and regeneration, and lack of essential sleep can mess up these processes. The effect is skin that does not look as healthy as it could be. Good overall health, including proper diet, exercise, limiting alcohol intake, not smoking and good quality of sleep habits will all help to improve skin's appearance and its ability to heal itself.

HOW SKIN DEVELOPS THROUGHOUT DIFFERENT LIFE CYCLES

Your skin in your thirties:

-This is
the time when you’ll first find signs of aging such as fine lines and wrinkles, in the skin around the eyes, mouth and neck.
-
You lose more water which leads to dry and decrease the skin's natural defense blockade.

Along with daily sunscreen, your skin desires extra moisture, as it tends to get drier as we age. So reflect on using a richer moisturizer and begin using the Vitamin A at night.

Your skin in your forties:

-Dryness of the skin rises at this period and sunspots, age spots and pigmentation
may come out in the late forties, it depends on your sun behaviour. This is also where you will set up to find changing in the skin on the backs of your hands, and probably in the chest area as well.
Whether you like it or not, at this stage “we” are starting to age, so you should be diligent about using Vitamin A at nighttime, and now just like your glass of OJ is good for your body, begin using Vitamin C in the morning for your skin.

Your skin in your fifties:

-In your fifties, I am afraid Hollywood
didn’t paint an accurate picture of today’s woman in her fifties, flabby skin on the neck area begins to form jowls and the skin on your neck, hands and chest leans to become thinner and more fragile than that on the rest of your body. If this isn’t enough, your lips begin to thin due to a loss of moisture and collagen, and you might appear to have a turned down mouth due to loss of skin elasticity. Don’t think about milk baths ladies; just continue with Vitamin A and Vitamin C.

Your skin in your sixties and seventies:

-As we age “gracefully” fine lines will
start to appear on your cheeks, lines from your nose to mouth can become deeper, and marionette lines also can become more pronounced
-Skin looks thinner and more translucent, making things like blood vessels more visible
-Your skin will
begin to be drier, making lines and wrinkles more prominent along with a loss of volume around the eyes, mouth, cheeks and temples due to fat loss
-The loss of elasticity in the skin at this period of life along with gravity increase the look of sagging skin so in this case, and every other stage “Prevention is the best medicine” which we will discuss in a moment – ladies in this stage Vitamin A and Vitamin C application is important as the skin is very susceptible to the benefits of both Vitamins, especially if delivered in a concentrated form.
